The Columbine effect...

I just can't believe it! We just had the countries first attempt at a school shooting... And it was by a 9 year old kid,,, NINE!
This is what you get for letting kids watch the news. Apparently the kid had an arguement with another boy at school the day before.

And you all know the first thing that's going to happen: Computer games will get the blame. Never mind the parents, the news or other things in his life... No, games is the sinner, it has to be!

If anyone wonders what I mean with the headline: it's quite simple. First school shooting that got a massive coverage in the media was the Columbine shooting, then I think it was the Virginia Tech one and after a while it spread to Europe... And now it's here.

I do not think this shooting had anything to do with videogamess, I think it's just a domino effect from the first shooting. Kids hear about it in the media, get to watch it over the internet and voilĂ , an idea is planted. "If other kids do it, why can't I?"
The whole "it's computer games that's to blame" thesis is based upon the idea that kids aren't smart enough to tell the real world and games apart. I think that's utter bullcrap!

I could write on and on about this, but not in english... so this will have to do.

Well, that just goes to show how media and people using media can manipulate information. But wether this or that happened, Columbine was still one of the first school shootings that got major media coverage. And in one way or the other can be "inspireing" (in lack of a better word) for other kids with similiar ideas/problems...
